There is a strong, historical, and geographical bond between Chile and exploration.

Shackleton’s crew was successfully rescued in Antarctica, after months of survival by their own means, by the Chilean Navy, more precisely by piloto Pardo and his crew. Geographically, the place from where a large part of Antarctica's expeditions set sail is a little Chilean town with a population of just twenty four hundred called Puerto Williams. It was in that little town located on the southern shore of the Beagle Channel where this project was born.

Puerto Williams is the starting point of many of Skip Novak’s expeditions.

As well as the place where the owner, the Chilean Nicolás Ibáñez Scott, has developed a sailing school with the ambitious goal of educating children through sailing. This sailing school is called CEDENA. It was there where Skip and Nicolás met, and as the result of that connection, the idea of relating both exploration and education was born to be incarnated in an exploration and training boat.
